Plastic is in the sea and revolution is in the air. It seems that every day there’s a new announcement about plastic, packaging and reducing waste. Retailers and brands are on the run, changing their products, business models and policies to react to the Blue Planet Effect.
Plastic straws have become public (and environmental) enemy number 1. They’re a symbol of an organisation that not only doesn’t care about the environment but isn’t keeping pace with public sentiment and opinion.
There’s business risk in single use plastic and opportunity if you have alternatives.
So what’s your equivalent to the plastic straw? And what is your sustainability saying about your brand and business?
To help answer these questions, and more besides, Yena has partnered with The Planet Mark™ to offer a unique sustainability workshop and networking event. Members attending the September event will enjoy all the usual Yena networking opportunities and additionally get a free sustainability planning, marketing and certification for their business.
The Planet Mark™ team has chosen to launch the Start! programme in Bristol and created a 60-minute interactive event to fast-track Yena members into the certification. The evening will feature:
Yena recently committed to The Planet Mark™ certification which is delivered in partnership with the Eden Project. This meant committing to measuring and reducing carbon emissions every year and, to be introduced in 2018, measuring its contribution to society.
As well as being a quantifiable way to measure your contributions to society and the environment, The Planet Mark™ is creating a can-do culture around sustainability. It is encouraging behaviour beyond compliance and reacting to events by encouraging companies to get ahead of the issues and embed the principles of sustainability from the get-go.
Steve Malkin, Founder of The Planet Mark™, will present and facilitate the session. Steve will share tips on how to grow your business by tapping into the sustainability revolution.
Half of the Fortune 500 is predicted to disappear in the next decade. Whilst big business wrestles to retro-fit sustainability, Yena members are ideally placed to embed sustainability into their products and practices. And many will go further by providing solutions that will directly meet the needs of our changing world.
Members of The Planet Mark™ team will guide you in an interactive session to write your own focused sustainability plan, complete with commitments to society and the environment.
Not only that, you’ll have the chance to receive a free certification to The Planet Mark Start! on the night. The certification presentation will demonstrate and hold you accountable for your commitments. And it will open the opportunity for your own marketing and PR.
